This translation of Bhagawad Geeta with Sanskrit text and Romanized phonetic transliteration has been brought forward in order to encourage the modern generation into the study of this ancient scripture. This work is specially meant to help the Indians living in foreign countries and to arouse the interest of foreigners into the recitation of Sanskrit verses and to understand the meaning of Geeta in a simple, flexible and comprehensive language.

atmaiva hyatmano bandhuratmaiva ripuratman"
Let a man lift himself by his own Self, let him not degrade himself; for he himself is his own friend and he himself is his own enemy.
"bandhuratmanastasya yenatmaivatmanajitah
anatmanastu satrutve vartetatmaiva satruvat"
To him who has conquered his lower-self by the Higher-Self, his Self becomes a friend; but for him who has not conquered his lower-self his own Self acts as an enemy.
