Sun of Mozambique Secondary School

Sun of Mozambique Secondary School
Beira, Mozambique

Though restoration in Mozambique has progressed since the Civil War ended in 1992, shortage of junior-high schools nationwide is still a serious problem. The junior-high school was opened in 1995, and the high school in 2001, in Beira, the second largest city in Mozambique. It is renowned for the quality of its teachers, 90% of them being graduates of universities, and the high percentage of students who pass the graduation tests, as well as the large number of graduates that enroll in universities. It has earned its reputation as a school with high quality education at a low price, and received many applicants every year. The Ministry of Education of Mozambique named this school the highest ranking private school in October, 2008, in terms of its stable management and excellent educational results throughout the years, and it was given the same authorities as public schools. The school has a total of 7,062 graduates.

Geeta Society has been extending the hand of help to the school since 2006. Over the years, the society has released generous grants to help the educational needs and other necessities. For more information please contact Tomiko Nojima at 925-736-3321; or Pat Fleischman at 415-258-4122.
